These 131 English flashcards practice neutral-atom ground-state electron configurations for all 118 currently named elements, from hydrogen through oganesson. Every element-to-configuration card includes the name, symbol, and atomic number. Thirteen extra reverse cards ask for the element behind a selected high-value irregular configuration.

What’s included

  • 118 element-to-configuration cards in noble-gas shorthand.
  • 13 configuration-to-element cards for Cr, Cu, Nb, Mo, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Ce, Gd, Pt, Au, and Cm.
  • A sequence by increasing atomic number, with each reverse card placed at least six unrelated cards after its matching forward card.
  • The requested answer first on every back, with source qualifiers appended for lawrencium and the predicted elements 109–118.
  • NIST ASD ground-shell assignments through hassium. Meitnerium through oganesson are labeled as PubChem/LANL predictions; lawrencium follows NIST’s current 7p¹ assignment.

What’s excluded

The deck does not include full expanded configurations, ions, excited states, orbital-box diagrams, quantum numbers, derivation drills, oxidation states, or other element properties. It also avoids automatic reverse cards and separate name, symbol, and atomic-number permutations for every element.

Sources and reuse

The primary factual sources are the NIST Atomic Spectra Database, its ground-shell guidance, and the NIST periodic table. PubChem’s element pages expose property-level sources and provide the stated LANL prediction convention for elements 109–118. For roentgenium, this deck follows the exact PubChem element entry and LANL page, which both predict [Rn] 5f¹⁴ 6d⁹ 7s²; PubChem’s downloadable table instead lists [Rn] 5f¹⁴ 6d¹⁰ 7s¹. This documented source disagreement is not treated as a second accepted answer. IUPAC confirms the current names and symbols.
